Thought I'd bring the 6D along with my 7D for an assignment today. It actually performs pretty well for sports, although it's' only really good for a 2nd body to go along with the 7D or 1D series. This was shot at ISO2000. Tracking with AI Servo wasn't too bad, but it felt like it didn't perform quite as well as the 7D. For good static, isolated shots, it's GREAT...especially in basketball arenas where the light is really bad.

Real life ISO performance blows away the 5D2.

I also think that the 6D calculates white balance a lot better than the 7D.

Hows the dynamic range on this baby? Anyone try pushing the shadows/hightlights on this yet?

At ISO100 it's just shy of 12ev.

The dynamic range is better than the 5D2, but the bigger improvement in my opinion lies not in the amount of shadow noise but in the aesthetic appeal in the quality of the noise. The 5D2 had very hideous banding and splotching in the shadows. The 6D still has a bit of splotching, but the banding is virtually gone.

The 6D also beats the 5D3 here, which is one of the main reasons I chose the 6D. 5D3 still has that banding issue in the shadows. Better than the 5D2, but it's still there.

DPP should work just fine...as a matter of fact, it likely will get you a touch more detail than camera raw since RAW is a proprietary format.

Yeah DPP works fine, and I use DLO too, it just gives me different and non pleasing results compared to acr.

And its a nightmare of usability.

With the quite amazing ISO noise of the 6D, what is the minimum/max shutter speed you guys push by night? I hate going under 1/250. I love crisp image without motion blur.

Downloaded EOS remote on my i-phone. It is easy to set up and works quite well. I could change apperture, speed and ISO from the mobile. Could decide on the spot I wanted camera to focus and take picture.

Another feature of EOS remote is that it permits to review pictures on mobile and save on moble if required.

The feature is excellent and quite useful.

Yes, the 6D has a horizontal level, but not vertical.

I upgraded from a 7D and I couldn't be happier. I got used to the D pad pretty quickly. I absolutely love the GPS and wifi. It works flawlessly with my iPad mini. My only complaint is the lack of a pop up flash. I have to buy the ST-E2 for off camera work. ISO performance is great!

True true. I always forget there is the wifi thing. About time I try it.
