So. Ready to make the plunge on a new full frame camera. Read all the reviews. Studied the findings. Checked with the talking heads at potn.

Decided that I would go with the 6d over the 5d3.

Why? Value. Same quality images for $1000 less. Easy, right?

So I head to the local shop to take my new camera through its paces. Credit cards ready to go. Shopgirl hands me a 6d to try, I put it to my eye, and......

I poked myself right in the nose.

A little background. I am severely left eye dominant. For photography, this means that I can shoot with both eyes open, relaxed with no squinting, IF my left eye is on the viewfinder. Shoot with my right, and I have close my left eye which leads to headaches over a very short period of time.

With the new control layout on the 6d, my nose literally lays on the control wheel. Without the joystick, and given the smaller size, I can't change focus points or EC WITHOUT poking myself in the nose.

In a million years I never thought I wouldn't buy a camera because of my nose. But it looks like the 5d3 for me.

To her credit, the shopgirl suggested rhinoplasty.

Cannot decide whether the post is a joke (with your post count) but I guess it's the 5D3 for you; probably a lot less expensive than rhinoplasty

Actually, when I first was handling my 6D I thought "this feels r-e-a-l-l-y good in my hand." The next thought was, "what do lefties do ?"

You're right, it's very right hand dominant in design. I know that there are viewfinder extenders, but if you can afford a 5DMKIII, then enjoy.

It is possible to change which eye is dominant. I used to be left eye dominant and right handed. Now I'm right eye dominant.

Oh my, that was just funny!

I'm a lefty and use my left eye to look through the view finder as well. Nothing seems to be in the way of my schnoz on the 5D2!

Thats something really good to know for people who purchase online, without testing their nose comfort first!

I'm right handed and left footed but it doesn't interfere with shooting, at least not yet.

You made a good decision. If it comes to deciding between either a 6D or a 5D3, you would be crazy to get a 6D. (assuming you have cash for both)

When it comes down to image quality, the 6D performs a bit better than the 5D3 at high ISO and also has a slightly better dynamic range than the 5D3. So if you want the best image quality and don't need the advanced AF of the 5D3, you would be crazy to pay $1000 more and get inferior image quality in return...

The 6d is really a surprise. It focuses bullet quick and it doesn't feel cheap UNTIL you have to touch the main dial. THAT handles like the controls from an Air Hogs copter. Mushy and non responsive.

I truly would have bought it if not for the schnooz.
