Is the 20D still compatible with most Canon flashes?

Thinking of getting a 20D. Will it work with all the modern flashes? I plan on using the camera for portraits. Haven't decided on the lens yet.

I still have one of my old 20D cameras and I believe it worked just fine with my 580 flashes (versions 1 and 2). I haven't hooked up my 600EX-RT to it, but I imagine it would work just as well as it does on a 5D2 (ie, will do most everything except Group Mode).

I can't see why not. The system the flashes use to talk with the camera hasn't changed.

The old camera will not support setting all menu items in the new flashes, but you can set them on the flash in the old style. Some other new functions will not be supported either.
