The sigma 20mm 1.8 is one of those funky "love it or hate it" lenses. No middle ground. Only strong opinions. Probably depends on the copy you get also. It is certain that it does not "test" well. For aps-c, it does well. I have one and quite like it.

If you can try one, or find one used, even better.

I'd be less likely to suggest this for full frame, as i am told the corners are bad. I have only aps-c.

That is a valid point, very true. In this case, though, would you say it's a fair statement?

well, the price difference is not as big but you still can get some decent deals.
I bought SMC 17/4 fish eye for under £200 and at any aperture it was excellent lens. You can also get hold of SMC M20/4 which is near pancake design and again, well regarded lens. There is also SMC 20/4 (K series) which is bigger and more expensive and even harder to come by, but even better lens and finally SMC 18/3.5 which isn't small and and nor excellent but for around £300 it's a very good buy.

But generally, the best bargains are to be had between 50 and 135mm in Pentax land....

I have a 550D, and I bought the Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM. I love it. The AF is fast and accurate, the colours are fantastic, contrast is good, and it's nice and light. The haters complain that it's only f/2.8 and expensive, but each to their own. I started a thread on it here https://photography-on-the.net …on+EF+24mm+f%2F2.8+is+usm

nice colours I have to admit.
I was looking at this lens but since I got my 24-70 the primes don't get used too much so I don't think I'll be getting it...
