Maybe it is just covering base by patenting but I would be very interested in a supertelephoto non-DO macro. So in practical terms what it does is allow Canon to make smaller lighter lenses with less elements in them with as good or better IQ than a lens using refractive (normal) optics thanks, and why is it that people say the DO system failed? sorry again for ignorance. Its price and the fact the performance was only so-so... the 70-300 DO for instance was a very good little lens, but cost over a grand and wasnt that much better than the cheaper 70-300 in some ways...
