i recently figured out Canon 7D has a built in "Copy Right" setting.

Instead of doing EVERY photo one at a time, you punch in the name and it
automatically puts the ownership onto the photo.

Does any one know about this?
Does any one know how to set it up, and when does it show up in the photos?
Also, can someone show me a example of what it looks like?

please help! :)

You can put your name down as the author of every photo the camera takes through the EOS utility software bundled with your camera. Your name will appear in the EXIF data of the photo. In case you aren't sure how to access the EXIF, you simply right click on the photo and it will bring up a details page or EXIF where your name will appear among other things. Sorry, I do not have an example to show you. Enjoy your camera!

Somewhere in the yellow(wrench) menu area you will see the "Copyright information" selection...Click the "set" button and you will see the options: "Enter author's name" and "Enter copyright details"...Click on these and enter the information.

You can also perform this task through the EOS Utilities program using your computer keyboard instead of the menu entry system that the camera provides, if you wish.

Please note that this info will appear in the image exif data and not as a watermark visible on the photo.

Nope you won't - you'll have to use photoshop for that.

It s in the camera. You can enter it using the camera menu or you can use EOS Utility to communicate with the camera and enter if from your computer, but the camera obviously has to be plugged into the computer while you do this. Any picture editing software can be used to display the EXIF data.

I bought my 7d used and changed the author name immediately
The weird thing is the old owner's name still comes up in my EXIF on Flickr.

Jeremy, If you bring up EOS Utilities' main window and click on the set up(wrench) menu you'll find that two fields are available for entry:

"Author's Name" and "Owner's Name"

Both can be changed through EOS Utilities, whereas only "Author's Name" can be changed in the camera's menu.

Why they have two different fields, I have no idea:rolleyes:, but I think that you can only replace the old owner's name this way.:)

Owners name would be the agency that owns the equipment, authors name would be the individual photographer, and when a ton of photos come into an agency from many photogs, they can figure out who shot what. This would one use for the separation, I would think.

Because the owner is not necessarily the person who takes and owns copyright of the photograph.
