Hi everyone, I bought this lens in the BB store ( Black Friday ) but the serial number is xx3xxxx, need to send to Canon repair center for update firmware. I return this lens with request higher serial number xx4, xx5 ... I'm waiting more than 2 week !

What should I do : buy it ( sn xx3xxxx ) or ask refund ? Please give comments. Sincerely thank.

Not sure what I would do here. Depends on the savings I suppose. If you saved enough money on the purchase, then it would be worth sending it in for the firmware update. Not sure you would notice the firmware issue or not either. Shoot some images and see if you feel there are any issues that effect YOUR shooting. If not, enjoy the lens now and send it in when it's convenient for you.

Only had it for a few days and the weathers been 'pants' on the whole, lot to learn / get my head around with a prime and at the moment I'm still undecided - lets see what the racing season brings. Few that are 'okay'ish' - feel free to point and laugh.

Well, awesome IQ and contrast, to say the least...
Didn't you find this baby too heavy ? Can you let it hang freely, or did you have to always keep your hand under it to avoid damaging the mount ? Just curious.

I usually keep one hand on the mount anyway when walking about, with the black rapid fitted to the camera it balances really well. No problem with the weight at all, only slightly awkward thing for me is it's so long when hanging down beside me I have to watch it when clambering up / down banks or steps.

Oh and thank you ;)

SQZ - looks like someone has been out in the sun too long ^^ great detail!

Few shots from a New Years day stomp, all with 1D mk4 / 300mm 2.8 mk2 and the 2x extender mk3. So all handheld at 600mm

Need to go again either without the extender or a monopod / tripod as my keeper rate really was depressing. Thanks for looking and as always - feel free to comment / critique

The wait must be driving you nuts, it will be worth it.

Few from today - overcast but dry

Swans in flight, with the 1.4 extender on the 300 so all at 420mm. (quite a way off so all crops)

^ David, All of your shots are great, but the fox pics amaze me. How do you get so close?

Now THAT ^^^^^ is one seriously sharp image, just stunning!

in answer to your question - I saw the fox enter the reed bed so walked very slowly up to the edge and just waited, about 10 minutes later he came to the edge and sat down to check me over - took a couple of shots and made my retreat - it's his home after all - oh and thank you
