Jan 02, 2013 20:11 | #4 The 55-250 hands down. It is one of the better budget zoom lenses out there.

Use it manually with the right settings in good natural light and you can come away with some decent images. I shot with that lens for a year until I just upgraded to a Tamron AF 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 sp di vc usd. I would highly recommend the Tamron; it's amazing in IQ for the price! Check out my Flickr below for images I just took at one of our area zoos with the Tamron. If you go through my Flickr prior to December 24th, you will find all of my photos taken with the Canon 75-300 III. Oh and you'll notice I too have the Canon EOS Rebel T3. I'd rather be shooting!

I will go ahead and support this, as I had my 75-300 on sale for $65 or something, and not a single hit while most of my other gear sold quickly! Never used a 55-250 so can't help there, just thought this was funny Dmitriy Khaykin

The same range lens be dramatically Better in the tamron Brand? It's all in the construction and the glass. Look at the thread here on the forum for that lens and look at the images. Do your research. Read the reviews on several websites. If you like the zoom range, the Tamron has wonderful IQ for the price. Just look at the difference in the images on my Flickr...the shots with the new lens vs the Canon 75-300 III; the Tamron is an amazing lens. No, it's not L quality, but it's a good lens. You don't get the purple fringing with it like the Canon 75-300; Tamron one is much sharper and the auto focus works fantastic compared to the Canon. But you have to purchase what you feel comfortable purchasing. Like I said, the Canon one was great to learn with for a year; I learned a lot about shooting with manual focus with it since that's how I shot with it for a year since I absolutely hated it's AF. I'd rather be shooting!
