Someone on another forum reminded me of this. If your camera allows you to embed a copyright message in your photos, now is the time to update it for the new year.

Good reminder thanks :)

Mine was "@2012 Use as you wish", now it'll be "@2013 Use as you wish" :D

Mine just simply has my photography name, so every year I don't need to update it :)

That's great info! Thanks for the share. Nikons don't have this do they? Only Canons? I haven't heard of it until now. I'm a Nikon D5100 user.

I can't find anything based on this for the Nikon D5100, so I guess it's a Canon thing.

No, it's in the Nikon D5100. Press the Menu button and go to the Setup menu. Press the Up part of the d-pad 5 times to get to Image Comment and press OK. Go down to Input Comment and press OK. Enter your copyright message, or any other comment you want attached to your photos by using the d-pad to move to the next letter/number and pressing OK to select that letter or number. Use the Delete button to delete a letter or number. Use the wheel at top-right to move the cursor around inside the comment. Use the magnify + button to finish. When you're done, remember to put a check mark next to 'Attach comment'.

Many people use this to input something like "Copyright B Obama 2013". Others use it to add a comment to each photo like a tag, e.g. "Wedding shoot at Blue Jay Way". When 'Attach comment' is checked, the comment is added to the photo; when it isn't, it isn't. So you could check 'Attach comment' then shoot, say, the wedding preparations in the morning, break for lunch, switch off 'Attach comment' and shoot street candids, then in the afternoon switch it back on and continue shooting the wedding.

There are probably quite a few other ways this commenting feature is useful. Probably even for Canon users... ;)
