I am looking into building my lens lineup (again). Twice now I've had to sell all of my gear, and so I've owned a few different lenses and bodies over the years...
T1i, T2i, T3i, 40D, 50D, nifty fifty, nifty 250, Tamron 17-50, 18-55, 24-105 f/4, 70-200 non-is, 200mm prime, and so on....
I already know I'm not completely happy with my T3i because I absolutely loved the 50D, but needed the video. For now though, I'll deal with it and focus on my lenses. Reading reviews, threads here, and personal experience; I know what two of my lenses will soon be- the Canon 85 f/1.8 and my favorite Canon 200mm f/2.8L.
I have learned that I really prefer primes to zooms mainly for the lower price, constant (and larger) aperature, sharpness, etc. No need for a PRIME vs ZOOM thread- it's just my preference
I am a casual shooter that likes to shoot family sporting events, nature, and most of all my 2.5yr son. Now, given my setup what would you recommend my third lens be?
Three that come to mind are the Canon 50mm f/1.4, Sigma 50mm f/1.4, and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. I've never been too big on wide lenses seeing as most of my pictures are portraits, sports, nature, etc. I would like to keep it in the sub-$400 price range, but if you have any other recommendations, feel free to post!
