Four new PowerShots - A1400, A2600, ELPH 130 and N

The A1400 replaces the A1300 and changes very little - same 28-140mm lens with no image stabilization and 720p video for $109.

The A2600 replaces the A2300 with the exact same features for $149.

The ELPH 130 is closest to the A4000 in shape size and features, (28mm, x8 zoom, 720p) but adds wifi connectivity for $199.

The N is a weird new creature with a box like design, wifi, flip screen (which is half of the camera body) and touch controls, 28mm & x8 zoom. Unlike the other new models, has a CMOS sensor and 1080p video for $299.

Just saw some promotional material on the N. I really kind of feel bad for the people who put the promo video on their website together. Trying to come up with a way to make using such a camera look cool and classy looks to be an exceptionally challenging job. Actors kind of project a vibe of either not having a clue of what they're doing, or clearly know just how bad they are looking and trying to not break down laughing.

That thing just looks awkward to use.

The SX260 has x20 optical zoom and if you install chdk you'll have RAW as well, so...

Interesting...I'll have to look into that.

Can anyone tell me if these new cameras have optical zoom while recording video?

I can't find the information anywhere about this.

I just found the Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS
releases on amazon March 20th...specifications look pretty good.

I remember seeing a Coolpix that was even worse. The camera was in two sections, joined by a pivot. I wonder how many were dropped and broke the pivot shaft?

Hey this is my very first post here
A140 & A2600 are nice cameras but they do not have CMOS Sensor, I think their image quality is fine but not so good in low light situation and ELPH 130 has CMOS Sensor which seems to be very good one with 720p Video Recording.

I just bought a used A1400 because it was the last camera I could remember that used AA batteries
and had a real optical viewfinder that allows the screen to be turned off and allow up to 1200
pictures to be taken on one set of NiCad batteries. I just cant find anything like that today. I've read where it does not have any image stabilization which I think is just an honest statement
as I dont believe any of the small cameras that claim to have it actually work in any meaningful
way to improve the shake when hand holding a camera. Anyway it does pretty good on AUTO
which is a good thing because I cannot get the dang menus to pull up any of the options in PROGRAM mode anyway. I wish Canon could create a desktop simulator that allowed us to use
the mouse to press buttons and operate the menus in the camera. I am afraid I am going to
break or wear out the buttons just trying to figure it out and practice on selecting different shooting modes etc. I was recently fondling my old Nikon manual focus 35mm film camera
and I sure do miss all the old buttons and switches etc. that were so straight forward to use etc.
Anyone else play with the Canon A1400 ?

I needed a replacement for my old A410 after the LCD was damaged and the A1400 was perfect for only 84 dollars, like the A1400 the A410 has an optical viewfinder which means I can still use it even with a damaged LCD, after getting used to some of the basic controls I'm liking the A1400, I prefer the A410 macro controls being on a dial verses through the menu on the A1400
