What's wrong with discussing usable ISO?

Nothing, in a thread where that is the topic. Here, it is a hijack.

It was spawned from a supposed spec list of the hardware in question.

Exactly, we were discussing a mythical camera and ISO came up. At lest the ISO discussion is based on something tangible.

So, we have a thread in the Rumors>Camera Rumors and Predictions forum about the rumored 7DII, and somehow discussing whether anything about ISO 100 is "usable" from the 5 year old 40D is on topic?

mmmmmmmK.

Gotta talk about something until the next mythical set of specifications pops up somewhere. :):)

Let's talk about the possibility of an all-new advanced eye control AF point selection being on the camera. It would be cheaper and a hundred times more reliable. Until now, doing it right would have likely been too processor demanding, but now I suspect it can be done with a few left over processor cycles on a dual digic 5 body. It would be incredibly cool to be able to press the AF select button then just look at the spot you want to select and be done with it. No scrolling with two wheels or joystics. No overshooting the spot you wanted. Just press, look, and shoot. And realtime tracking in servo mode? I mean WOW. That would be incredible.

I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.

It cannot stay for long. The AF system is not sync'ed with the new II lenses. At a minimum it would have to have a new AF system to make the most of the II lenses. Neither does the T4i. I personally do not get it. Kinda cutting there own throat. Not compatible with the new lenses makes a huge difference now.
It ranks the worst AF for the new lenses in all Canon line up? It is dying a slow death.

Yeah, plus the rumors about it coming out before, the rumors about it not coming out at all, the rumors about a 70D not coming out at all, the rumors about ...
