that is a funny shot. My chocolate will do the same thing looking for stuff. He'll stick his head under the water in the river to find things also. Such cool dogs. Here he is during today's hike. Ranger: 11 Months old.

Question to the lab owners here (and any other dog owner for that matter):

So my chocolate is a chewer. He will take almost any chew toy and destroy it. The only thing that holds up for a while is Nylon Bones. Kong toys? Forget about it. He's chewing off chunks of rubber in no time.

Any recommendations?

Have you tried freezing the Kong toys over night with peanut butter in them? I think the black ones are supposed to be stronger than the red ones, but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

I've not tried that but it sounds like a good idea. Thank you.

Any other suggestions people?

I don't know how old your lab is… could be going through a major chewing stage… Ive also read that more exercise will help reduce boredom- which can lead to excessive chewing. All dogs are different, but thats one I hear often as a possible solution.

It worked on my lab when she was younger. Found out how much she loved to RUN! Started taking her to the park or the beach more often and what a difference… more content when she got home. Taking your dog to the park would be cheaper than finding out if your 1Dx is a match for the Kong toy!

The only toy that has lasted over a year in my house is his http://www.goughnuts.com (external link)

This toy has lasted 3years now and two labs chewing on it with no breaks in the rubber. It even has a lifetime warranty.
