I made my first visit to Cataloochee in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park this past Friday. I did not have a lot of time but wanted to check it out for future reference but I will definitely have to come back. I got these two shots of Elk. There was a fairly large buck wandering around as well but I couldn't get a clear shot of him.

Not all of them are tagged or collared.

Why is that? I haven't seen any untagged/collared ones but then again I have only seen them here, and in Cherokee.

Driving through this area and Cherokee, you have to be careful not to run into them. They are human fearless.
