Hey guys, went to a small boutique yesterday for a possible product shooting. She want's me to shoot some of her products. She wanted to start selling in ebay.

I don't know what's the best deal for her. Is it per session or per item? How much? Anybody with experience in this type of gig? Also if you can tell me the pricing. Much appreciated.

tested 3 items yesterday with my 85mm +extension tubes handheld no flash.

Last two photos look very dark. I'd put together a small light box and just shine some lights at it so you can show off what she is selling. Even the first one could sparkle a LOT more.

Are these one of a kind items she is selling, or multiples of the same thing? If they were multiples, then I would do a per item charge so that she can just continue to use the picture with every auction. If every item was one off, then I would charge per session. eBay is cut throat so I wouldn''t expect to make a killing as she'll also be paying eBay and will want to turn a profit.

i'm not worry about the shot as it's only like a snapshot for testing. thanks for the tips though.

Also, i need the color to stand out. if i have to make it lighter, the color would not be as good.

it's gonna be a multiple of different items. even some furnitures. what do you think? how much should i charge a per session.

i know ebay is a killer. i sold about $1300 of camera and lenses, they charge me about $101. She said she'll be paying ebay on a monthly basis and not per item. I'll never sell in ebay anymore.

She's gonna be reusing the same pic for several auctions? If you get the setup right u'd get away with shooting all the jewelry on the same background, with a few minutes of PS to get the colour consistent and no debatching I would charge $10-$20 a photo. YMMV

Base your price on per item and price of the item being sold. If you want to use a % of the price then you can use that % to calculate profit. If they do not have a starting price then calculate the cost + % markup for profit.

Thanks for the link. That tutorial is awesome and super easy.

Nope she's not reusing pics over and over. thanks for the price idea. here's what i'm thinking to make the charge consistent to the items individual price. Prices of the items varies so I was thinking of a percentage base on the item price. not sure if she'll give me the right price then.

not give you the right price? if the item sells the price is there for public viewing.

what do these items sell for? greater or less than $100? how many are there? if you want $10 or $20 per photo that could add up very quick. eBay is down and dirty work. where i live companies frequently advertise help wanted for photographing and listing items. its not high paid work either.

if they sell, how long will it be before she realizes she should set up her own camera? eBay sellers talk about it all day long on the eBay forums.

if i were faced with this situation, along with trying to decide what i would need to charge for the photos and if that figure is even feasible for the seller, i would also consider if setting up and showing her how to do it herself for a flat fee might better serve my customer.
