Does focus assist only work in the auto modes? I can't get it to work in Tv or Av. I have a 7d. The C.Fn setting for AF-assist is enabled.

I shoot manual and the AF beam works - but it also causes my lenses to back focus! :(

any news about 6D compatibility? :-|

6D works in ETTL (inc HSS) but you have no direct menu control over the unit or the flashes

Mine (7D) works in all modes from green box to bulb.

can be a little more about the interaction of YN-622C and 6D?
flash control menu is not active?

I figured it out. Focus assist doesn't work while you are in AI Servo. Once I changed to AI Focus it started working. Thanks for helping me.

Of course what would really be nice, but probably unrealistic, is that a Canon camera could control a Nikon speed light via the YN-622 interface. PW ControlTL claims some limited cross platform interworking although I've never talked to anyone that has used it.

Yeah I think that's a bit beyond the 622's at this stage, but you never know down the track.

I think PW demonstrate mixing Canon and Nikon flash in the latest webinar based around the Sekonic touch screen light meter.

Also have you used the 622's on another camera to see how they normally operate?

I thought the 6D may be the point this all gets interesting.

I have not yet had the opportunity to try to 6D with YN-622C

But one of my friends could not use old 1DS with YN-622C
After turning on the YN-622C,at the camera flips up the mirror and the LED of memory buffer is flashes.
The mirror is still in the raised position until the turn down the YN-622C
Factory reset does not change the situation.

YN-568EX (after reset) works fine with 1DS.

Just received my first set an I am impressed! Works like a charm with Canon 580EX and YN568EX. It even gives my old 430EZ flashes 2nd sync off-camera!
I tried to give a set of flashes 2nd sync by connecting the RF602 transmitter to a YN622c, but that didn't work. Guess I'll have to get 622c's for my manuel flashes too....

Well, the first tests made with a digital multi meter and some units working as transmitter and receiver.
I had not enough time (and energy, I'm very tired today) to test rechargeables battery, so I've tested the behaviour with very low charge and something strange happened as expected.
Feel free to ask me any questions, I'll try to reply :)
I haven't a professional multimeter so these readings could have some margin of error, but I think they should be almost accurate.
Hope it helps to understand how they works!

Thanks for taking the time to make these observations. I was particularly interested in idle (standby) and maximum current drain.

You're welcome ;)
I tried to do every test forcing repeating focusing and half pressing of shutter button, the same when changing options in flash control menu: I wanted to achieve the maximum stress on the unit and so the maximum current drain.
Values sometimes changed very quickly, so I taken the lowest value and the highest for every test, if needed.

So, for the electrically-uninitiated, how long will a pair of batteries last? (in number of shots, or in hours taking, say, 1 photo a minute)?

Thanks for the detailed info,
Rafa.
