I used it that way. Did some outdoor portraits with it too. :) Its a good lens and light weight too.

Just got a 70-300, so I won't be needing it anymore.

i have cheap manual extension tubes got from ebay in just 6$.. ther's no electric connections that means have to focus manually , and have to use some trick to set my aperture
