me too - look forward to seeing you and Lee there. I need a few hours off - I've been working on a voice over for a dog training video clip for 5 hrs this evening *yawn*.

I'll make some Cupcakes for a meet soon.. Can't do tomorrow as its moo's b-day!

Going to pop down with Jem's nan & grandad.. Does anyone have a macro lens or Kenko tubes I could borrow?

In the meantime......I had a read through the manual on the 7D for the hundredth time today and set up C1 to give me the following settings with BIF in mind.

Apeture Priority
Auto ISO
Evalutive metering
Spot AF

I also zeroed the MFA for the lens.

Took just the Sigma 70-200 + 2x TC out with me for the evening dog walk and didn't see a single bird worth raising the camera for. However.....I have had some issues with the AF being a little slow to lock in low light and with the camera set up this way I seem to have some improvement at last.
These are not the most exiting shots by any means but it'll give you an idea of what I'm getting at.
Shot 1 is a sunset to give you an idea of how late it was and how much light was available.
Shot 2 is of Cookie taken about 2 minutes before shot 1.
#3 is of Bisto having turned around from taking the sunset.
And shot 4 is another one of Cookie taken 4-5 minutes after shot 3.

Like you say, as long as the parents are there and all is ok with them then can't see too much of a issue with it. I'd be tempted to have either both parents there or at least another person who is with you in case of any issues that you need an unbiased opinion from, if you get what I mean.

I'm sure you'll do a great job too

@Andy when there is not much contrast say with Cookie then the camera will struggle to focus as well.

I know it is easier said than done but also a clear background like the sky helps so the camera will not get confused as to what you want it to focus on.

Sadly it gets to the point where the only improvement is to get a better camera. 5D mkIII has hugely improved my keeper rate for things being in focus.

I wonder it would be worthwhile taking some "Behind the scenes" shots whilst you are at it? Some with her parents in, some from the side showing that she isn't actually nude only implied etc?
