Updated my firmware on my d90 today for lens profiles and even though it only listed Nikon lenses, it fixed my 85mm!! No more horrible front focusing :) Today was a good day

The lens arrived today, but I'm afraid I may have to return it :( When tilting it, I can hear a faint noise, as if something inside was slightly loose. Is this normal or should I get a replacement without further checking the lens, ie AF problems etc.?

Got another copy today - same problem :(
Could some of you please check your lens and tell me if this is normal? I don't like the thought of returning yet another lens, but there's no way I'm keeping a potentially damaged one!

I can shake mine and it doesn't make noise....

I haven't noticed any sort of noise like that at all. Sometimes you can hear a faint "clicking" sound if you gently shake the lens and that's normal - most likely gears and rails just moving back and forth slightly.

If I shake mine side to side, there's no noise. If I shake it front to back, there's some noise of things moving inside. Same with all my lenses. As MrGreen said, probably just the moving parts, umm, moving.

It happens even when I very gently tilt it. None of my other four Sigma lenses shows this kind of behaviour, so it doesn't seem normal at all to me

Any chance they sent you the exact same lens twice?
