Finally got this lens & based on all the comments on here, I was expecting it to be great straight out of the box. I went to a tennis tournament & took a couple of hundred photos & they were all out of focus :o

I did a quick calibration after seeing the dismal tennis results & it seems OK at +5 on my camera. Will do a proper test when I have time.

Anyhoo, here are some pictures that I took after calibration.

After having owned 5 70-200 (2*f2.8, 2*f4 and 1 f4is) I finally pulled the trigger on this little gem. But because I'm still undecide I kept my 85 L and 135L. One will have to go but which one ?!

135L is magic but hard to use handeld : 1/160s is required for me. So it means it is unusable in low light, just for outside. But in case the 70-200 will be to big, a compact 135L will do it.

The 85L is a really capable lens but it often stay at home.

Or will I be disapointed with 70-200II like I was with other 70-200...?!

So, which one must go in your opinion ?

You sound a bit like me, I had 2 70-200 2.8's ( IS II and non IS ) Loved everything except the bulk. I am giving the 135 a try now to go along with my 70-300L.

The 70-200 2.8 IS II is pretty hard to beat but indoors I just did not like shooting with it and outdoors I am fine stopping down. I actually got the 135 to shoot with indoors for low light since I usually would shoot moving subjects the shutter speed would seem to be a non issue. Time will tell.

Like you, I hardly use my 135L now that I have 85L and 70-200 II, so I'm planning (still undecided) on selling it. It's an awesome lens, but for a hobbyist like me, it'll never get used to its fullest potential.

Also, has anyone MA this lens on a 5D3? I noticed 5D3 has two options to MA this lens (wide and telephoto).

So I'm not the only one undecided !

But I often use my 135L ! I'm used to go with 24-105 + 135 or 16-35+50+135. The 70-200 and moreover 85L often stay at home. When I use it, f1.2 seems "unreal", I'm loving it but I can't use it for a walkaround.

In the future, I think the versality of this mk2 can help me. My son is growing and will play soccer so I'm thinking of 70-200II + extender 2x mk3 to shoot long.

Moreover, I shoot better with f4+IS (24-105) than I was able to do with f1.4 (35L) in low light ! So 2.8+IS can be a great deal. But is 135@f2 = 200@2.8 dof ?

Well done. I think the only way it could be improved is if it was Sontava! XXX Habanero sauce...

It's tasty, and pretty spicy. I love trying different hot sauces. Firehouse subs is awesome with their huge assortment. Sontava rocks my favorite recipe for flavor.
