welps you guys got me lost! It could be the camera, lens, the lighting, and/or user error. Maybe I should get my lens checked out but I haven't been able to run any tests on mine because I'm still missing a tripod / ballhead. Wish there was a Sigma / Canon service center near me! I've been just shooting and not looking at it but maybe I should.

Sharizah,

The thing is, my 5D3 has been perfectly fine with ANY lenses I have used prior... 35L, 85L, 135L, 70-200 II, 24-70 II, 24-105, the list goes on... This is the ONLY lens I noticed this shift. So I would think that it is something with the lens versus my camera body. But glad you got your issues resolved swapping bodies! I am hoping the new lens will be A-OK cause it is an incredible piece of glass.

Dropped mine off at UPS just now... Should have my replacement next week sometime.

Nothing wrong with doing some rough tests hand-held. If you adjust the MA, you can always go back to '0'. I shot a yardstick on a slant, hand-held, at the eye of one of my wife's dolls, and other things around the house. It was enough to let me know it (the lens) was front focusing, and I kept adjusting until everything I shot in AF was sharp, indoors and out, near and far.

I'll use a tripod and some high-contrast targets this weekend, but for now, it's looking great!

Oh well I did shoot a ton of things when I first got the lens but didn't notice anything wrong with it; but after everyone started testing and seeing the problems in some type of lighting or distance it made me ponder a lot about my copy. I haven't shot in awhile since I returned to work after my vacation but I'll try it out ..I never used MA before so it's actually quite more frustrating for me to try and pinpoint where it's weakness is to fix it with MA. I went ahead and purchased FoCal but again no tripod/ballhead to test this program out...I owned Sigma in the past so I know they deliver sharpness like razorblades! I don't even want to think about trying to MA my other L lenses, so far for all my lenses, everything is at 0 value. vinzmunoz turned off his MA menu (disabled it) and his Sigma was fine. I'm still thinking it's a possibly it's my camera body.

Some pictures from me as well (had them up before but flickr links changed so I deleted them):

Note, I believe all of these shot at f/1.4... Works great in low light (obviously)

Simply amazing.

What body did you use? Noise reduction?

Still using the dogs as test subjects (I've been doing it since they were pups so they're pretty good about sitting still for the camera, haha) but I really wanna try it out on an actual portrait session. Hopefully this weekend! ;)
