Hi all,

My wife and I finally got into The Wave after almost a year of entering the lottery. As luck would have it, this weekend was when we were having record low temperatures in Arizona. It was -7F when we started hiking shortly after dawn. Still totally worth it though, as it's an amazing place. Here are a few of my better ones so far. C&C appreciated...

1) Survival - a small desert plant surviving in the cold. This caught my eye along the 3 mile hike in.

2) The Vortex - This is on of the first shots I took after arriving at the wave. One of the side passages off from the main area.

3) The Standard View - I guess the snow makes it a little unique

4) A slightly different view of the wave from Inside. I was trying to find compositions that weren't already done to death.

5 A more abstract variation on the layer theme from the previous one.

Wow! Fantastic abstracts! You don t often see snow with these shots. I don't think I would have done that hike in those temps. Guess it helps to be Canadian. Look forward to hearing the stories behind these. Great work.

Really great set Paul. That first one of The Wave has great perspective. Feels like you could fall in to the picture.

Are you able to walk around at your leisure?

Great shots Paul! While the temp may not have been stellar, you certainly acquired some stellar images. :)

Those are great, Paul. Used to live in Phx and am homesick for the wide open spaces. I'm more of a warm weather hiker, though. -7 degrees!!!!

Nice work, Paul. One of my hikes to the Wave (in March) started cold and I was excited to see some snow on the red rock. However, by the time I got there, sun had come out and melted the light covering of snow. Glad you were able to get there with some snow still around. There are so many possible compositions there, although most have been done. Chances are, you will never see any quite like yours.

I'm really liking #4 and not the typical shot I've seen from here. My name is in the hat for the lottery, fingers crossed that I can finally go in May!
