Could be my sloppy post processing! :) This is the first time I've used the 2.0 extender on the 500. The 1.4 is flawless. I'll check it more carefully. Thanks!

(update) I see a little in the raw viewer but I did bring the color fringing out a bit more with post. Not worried as this isn't a typical shot for me. Just some fun. All my other pics from the day with the 1.4 are good. Just have to watch the 2.0!

(update 2) Just checked a friend's shot from tonight with similar gear and his looks almost identical. Very strange! Maybe the moon got a paint job! Ha Ha!

Well, whatever your intentions, it did make me look more closely. The color fringing is not right. Not sure what is causing it though. Ideas? My buddy's shot was taken with a 1D mk4/500mm f4 IS (v1) and 1.4 extender II. So essentially one generation back from my gear and the shots both show the color weirdness at the top of the moon. Atmosphere?

I finally got this dream lens. So of course it had to be tested on feathered creatures.

Shot with 1DX.

Awesome shots yipDog, SQZ, hypers2K, and Tommy! Wow! The Bald Eagle shot (the angle/composition, and sharpness) is just incredible.
