This story was too good to pass up. I'd stay away from Dell, or at least whoever their distributor is:

I just figured it would be more appropriate in market watch, I didn't bother to search anywhere else. My apologies.

The OP said the order was canceled. I think it's all BS but I'm very cynical.

No need to apologize.. I just thought it was funny it came back around to where it started. People have started much more needless threads, trust me. ;)

Newegg sent out a batch of Fake CPU's from another distributor for which D&H was initially blamed. So you better believe this type of thing actually can happen.

I don't really see what all the hype is about. It's certainly a shell-shocker to find something like that, but the company is making it right. By no means is Dell as a whole, or their distributor a bad company for this. When it boils down to it, there are two probable reasons this happened:

1) Someone in the supply or delivery chain decided to steal the camera. (Most likely scenario.)
2) The person is playing a hoax or is a thief themselves. (Least likely scenario.) (I am not accusing the person of this, just pointing out that it's a possible, but unlikely scenario.)

In both of the above cases, a company is not to blame and I'm sure they are investigating it the best they can to identify what happened. Certainly an amusing story, but I don't see it as anything other then that.

A good reason to purchase the cameras/lenses from a local store. Lucky me i live in a big city with the best camera stores around.
