Cold and snowing around here so tonight I turned the lights down low and experimented with different shutter speeds and my plasma tube. Really interested to see the difference it makes. Here's my favourite

Another stellar shot! You need to start posting GPS coordinates with these...

Thanks!

It was a 30 second exposure. I chose the longest possible while getting an exposure I liked because I like the look of water during long exposures (almost glass like).

Awesome. We have an amazing beach and lighhouses here. I am hoping to do something like this...when it's not frigid out. ;)

No problem. Just be sure when you're metering, meter for what you want to be the brightest. In my shot, I metered for the horizon to get the sunset.

Please excuse my ignorance here. I've just moved out of auto modes in the last couple of months and I am still learning. So...Metered, as in with a light meter? Or metered through your lens?

Sorry. I also should have been more specific.

I was using in-camera metering, and I had it set to Spot Metering.

From there, I metered for the horizon.

Hey! Were you following me around? I shot almost that exact scene about a month ago when I got my 70-200 F/4! :) I was actually surprised how much detail in the moon I could see at 200mm.

Nice! depending on the time of day, the 70-200 is great for moon shots. Some of my favorites are taken with it!

Chimpsinties, love the plasma tube shot.

A couple from my walk around yesterday. Second one with the new sigma 30mm 1.4, really happy with my new toy...
