I love shooting snow macro and find myself examining them even when I don't have a camera in hand.

Great shots! What are the flakes on? I took some a few weeks back on foam board but wasn't crazy about being able to see all the texture in the foam board.

Thank you everyone. The top one was on the good of my daughters coat and the second was on the tinted window of my minivan. I use my 100mm macro with a tripod and remote shutter release outside. I capture a couple of flakes then take them under the overhang of my porch so I don't get too many.

Aha, sounds like a proper setup then (macro, tripod) - good reults.

I used a small sheet of alluminium, sprayed one face black then left it out doors for half-an-hour. Then, let the snow land on it and captured these, 24-105 @ 105 with a couple of extension tubes, hand held:
