Great thread guys, just pulled the trigger on a 6D and a Sigma50 1.4 for an upcoming trip to europe!!! CAN NOT WAIT Untill I get my hands on the new gear Monday... Time to download the manual!!

Sweet, that was part of my motivation for getting my 6D. I'm going to the Monaco F1 in May and will spend a month travelling the old continent.

anybody have any idea how long it might take the 6D to hit the loyalty program? My 40D is failing sooner than expected and I'm not sure how long I can hold out.

That green glow you see is my raging jealousy. :D I'd give about anything to see the race in Monaco.

Has the 5D3 hit the loyalty program yet? I know there are 5D3 refurbs on occasion from Canon.

That's a good question. If not I might as well suck it up and purchase now.

I just called the Canon loyalty program and as of now, the MkII is the only full frame in the program.

Finally got mine yesterday. Coming over from Nikon (D90/D600) it is a change but camera seems very nice.

The D600 and 6D are very different cameras. Both show off the ff potential quite well for the money. The 24-105L lens on the Canon is wayyyy better than the Nik 24-85 I tried (imo). I was surprised that the 6D focuses quite well with the kit lens in room light. Thought the lack of a focus assist lamp might be problematic on the Canon, but so far no probs.

the kit lens for the 6D is L series glass, and if i hadn't recently bought the 70-200 2.8 i would have got the kit (body only . . .)

i really like the 40mm stm lens on this body, it does really well in under-lit situations. about a stop better than my 60D, if i had to guess.

I am really enjoying the 40mm pancake on this body as well!

Have you considered Sigma's 35mm 1.4 instead?

It's going to be pretty special, we will be flying in via chopper from Nice on the Thursday too so will be hoping to catch a great aerial shot.

I'm a bit of a car nut so will also be clocking up some laps of the Nurburgring and driving some exotics through the Italian Alps.

Still can't believe the low light abilities of this camera.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but it sounds like you're not hurting for money. Why the 6D and not the 5D MkIII? Don't get me wrong, I love my 6D, but if I had more discretionary income, I'd have gone with the MkIII. Just wondering what your thought process was.
