I found the FL indoors to be a bit too long. My son runs around like a madman, now that he's able to, and using the 50L in the play room proved to be very difficult, and tedious. The 35L fits perfectly and provides me with enough room to get some shots of him.

Secondly, when I was on location working with models, I just felt the focal length, for me, wasn't right. I would tend to reach for my 85L in those instances, since 50mm just didn't seem like the right focal length. The 85, in those instances, seemed to be the right focal length for portraits, and 3/4 shots. It's my most used lens, the 85.

I guess I just never really got along with the 50mm focal length. It wasn't wide enough (35mm), or close enough (85mm), it was just kinda there. So, I got rid of the 50, and switched to the 35.

I've only had it a week, but, I've already done a couple of shoots outside, shot some stuff indoors and, for me, it seems to be a much better focal length. Wide enough to be wide, close enough to be close, and as any L lens, the colors/contrast/sharpn​ess make it a nice all around prime.
