I thought my edit looked pretty good myself. Especially because I was just trying to show her the amount of detail that was in the sky, and it was just a quick adjustments to the contrast in the image.. Its all in the eyes of the beholder i guess ;)

I'd try moving to the left (3, 5, 10, and 15 feet). That would give the fence more of an angle. Right now, the road gives a nice leading line, but I find the fence is too vertical for my liking.

Thank you for such a great suggestion Cpam. Looking forward to giving that a try.

Agree - what I first thought when I saw this shot. Lower angles and a few steps to the left.

Thanks for your CC and I will get out there again and try for a better angle or two.

The light and the color in the original image is just fine. The edit is horrible. The problem with the shot is composition. The horizon literally splits the image in half, which tends to lessen the visual impact. An easy solution is to crop the image slightly. Try using a 16x9 overlay....and remove some of the sky. I suggest removing sky instead of foreground, because there really is nothing compelling in the upper portion of the sky that might serve to enhance the image.

Hi Woolburr, really good to see that you are still around :D I tried a crop very similar to the one you suggested but it didn't really do anything for this shot. The vanishing point was wasn't as prominent in that version. My best bet is to head out there and try a few different angles and pay closer attention to where my horizon is. I'll post the crop I did here so you can see it.

Your crop is better with less sky, but don't be afraid to try some format other than 2:3. A vast expanse like that lends itself well to a wider format crop. 16x9, 2:1....even 3:1, but in this case, I think 3:1 would take too much of the elements you want to include.

Personally i'd crop a little closer to the fence on the right and only keep about 2/3 of the sky. Just my opinion. :)

EDIT: Example included.

Very nice shot. I love the edits. Im sure they were done quick but if you spent a bit of time on the edit it would come out great. Nice shot/comp!

Thanks Chomish, I'll spend some time doing that then upload the edit here.

I was thinking the opposite, that a sight crop on the left might help. For some reason my eyes are drawn to the left and I can't make out what those are, houses maybe. I follow the road to the middle, then left.
