Thinking more and more about sending my Sigma back for this lens.

But this is nuts:

At $82.65 it's most expensive (going by Adorama's price list) hood Canon makes for their 'regular' lenses (excluding super tele's).

edit: I just checked Canon USA... $70. huh.

I agree with the price of the Canon Hood and I don't believe there are any third party hoods available just yet for this lens. I think Amazon was also $70.00.

I will have to wait before getting a hood, should have this lens TOMORROW and I am pretty hopeful. :)

Where is the dissatisfaction? I've seen mostly praise for the lens.

This lens also has me interested! If I do buy it, I am going to wait until it has the $150 rebates like the other two siblings of this lens currently.. Because $800 is a bit steep for this one, I think. $600-650 is much more tolerable for what it is!

Mmmmm.... have gander at the more recent pages of this thread.

https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1229122

I'm sure most are happy with it, but many of us are having focusing issues, and it's popping up in other forums as well. 5DIII owners here, but some Nikon bodies as well. Apparently, Sigma has just acknowledged the problem on some Nikons so far.

I agree it is steep, but hoping it is worth it. I read the other two were out for about six months before prices dropped, so I went for it.

The Sigma 35mm looks like a fantastic lens and I did give it good thought, but I love the primes because they are compact and light. The Sigma is heavier than I wanted to carry. I usually shoot hand-held, so I will take f/2 with IS!

it seems like pretty minimal dissatisfaction...and who's to know if/when the USB dock is released if all of these issues could be fixed in 5 minutes with that thing...

Source?

Maybe then Canon can acknowledge the same problem on my 6D/135L combo (I can always dream, can't I)

See page 3 of this thread. It wouldn't hurt to read the whole thing:

or $40...i mean nobody knows the price of the hub yet...so it's all just a guess...

either way i'm sure rental places will be ordering them, so renting from somewhere online would be the cheapest way to adjust the lens

Way back when prices for the lenses were announced I saw the that the Dock would be priced at about $60.However that is not listed anymore.I think it was a Sigma site I saw it on.So hopefully it won't be much more than that.
