Finally finished our last wedding film of 2012

Pretty happy with the way it came out, but it definitely took a while given how particular the couple's musical tastes were. In the end though we found something that made everybody happy.

We're still very much getting on our feet in the wedding film genre; hopefully we have lots of good things to come this year.

Dude, that was epic! Very well put together. A perfect example of what an 8-10 minute wedding film should feel like.

I have sooo many questions like did you shoot with 5D's and if so what's the best technique for producing that anamorphic look? And that color grading...holy cow! Please share the process!!!

Hey Dane,

We shot that one with the 5D and 7D. The aspect ratio was recorded as normal 16:9; we just created an anamorphic timeline in Premiere (sized at 1920x817 or something like that). Coloring was also done in Premiere...basically just simple curves adjustments in addition to minor tweaking via the fast color corrector.

Thanks, we usually shoot with just a flat profile with contrast and saturation turned all the way down. Sharpness we leave around +4; we've found that it really helps being able to pull focus. We tried zeroing out the in-camera sharpness and it was REALLY hard to tell when we were in focus, especially at 2.8 and below (which is 90% of where we shoot in the aperture range).

Excellent camera work! Not so sure about the processing, though. I would almost rather see it as it was in real life. I'm wanting to start doing wedding videos this year as well, so seeing what is expected of me is very helpful! What crane/slider did you use?

Great tip. Ever since I started shooting flat in-camera I've noticed the same problem with pulling focus.

We just use what I think most people would call a DIY igus slider. At $200 we couldn't compain about it when we first started out. It gets nice smooth slides but it is just too heavy for weddings. We're looking to replace it before this season really gets underway.

Okay! I was thinking about buying a Kessler Crane for my cousin's wedding. I'm hoping to shoot that one for free and get some practice.

Thanks! The film look is just a video texture overlay - nothing fancy. In fact, I think they were all scaled from standard def

One of the best wedding videos i've seen and i've seen quite a few. The grading couldn't have been more perfect, this will be the benchmark for my own work me thinks
