Your friends have the greatest gear. Of course your gear family portrait was nice too, even if the G11 (12?) wasn't there.

Hey guys.. took my camera out today to take some action shots of my dogs, which I haven't done for awhile since it's been either cold or rainy.

As far as I know, none of my settings have changed, but my camera wouldn't shoot continuously when I pressed and held the shutter release button (aka no "machine gun" today!). I checked the custom function settings and didn't notice anything out of whack.. had it in AI SERVO as well. Anyone have any idea as to what I could do to fix this?

Make sure you have it set to shutter priority, not AF priority. It's possible the conditions were making it tougher to focus, and the priority was waiting for focus, rather than firing.

I have mine set to AF priority because I'm not interested in any major missed-focus shots.

Was this taken with the 17-40 or the 10-22?

Thanks, it was with the 17-40.

Hehehhe... Thank you, good sir... BTW, my friend rented that glass (400 2.8L IS)... But that's his 5D3 body, though...

WFT-E2

Does anyone still use this transmitter with the 1DIII, or is there a newer gadget taht allows for a remote operation of the camera?

Anyone have a good link or mind sharing their AF settings for sports? In particular I shoot a lot of mountain biking and skiing. I know this isn't a fair comparison but so far I haven't had the best results tracking the dogs at the park using AI. I know that's not apples to apples but I haven't had a proper shoot with this new body yet, I will be taking it out friday though and I'd like to make sure I have some good baseline settings.

I found this and so far this seems to explain everything really well (in case anyone else was wondering)

Hmm.. you're talking about C.Fn III-3, right? It's set to 0, which is AF priority.

FWIW, it did it in AV mode as well as Manual. Conditions weren't bad at all, this was one from today:

I'm not sure what happened! I can mess around with it tomorrow in the daylight again, was really annoying today trying to get pictures of fast moving dogs.
