Ok, here is what I am thinking. I have a EF 28-135MM IS USM as my walk round lens and 70-300mm IS USM for my nature walks. I just recently acquired a 50MM 1.8 and now I'm thinking about selling 28-135 and the 70-300 and getting a 70-200 f/4 L (w 1.4 ext) to use on my nature and outdoors adventures. I will have the 5O for my indoors/portrait and general shooting and I will get another wide angle zoom for a walk around lens later. I won't be doing a lot of sports/action photography so I won't need and can neither afford a f/2.8 at this time. I'm curious just as to what other people's thoughts are. Thanks for your time and suggestions

The 70-200 is a nice pick up but what are you not able to do with your current lenses that makes you want to upgrade?

I personally am not a fan of the Canon 70-200mm f/4 L lens. Not having IS is a big hindrance. I would keep what you have honestly. You have a good wide angle lens with a decent amount of zoom and a good range 70-300 zoom. I would not sacrifice both of those to be running a single 70-200mm lens without IS.

way too restrictive imo.

50mm on crop is quite long and you might run into problems of using it indoor/groupshot etc. Maybe pick up a cheap kit 18-55?

70-200f4 will be an upgrade from you 70-300 non-L.

Not really much that I can't do with what I have. The 28-135mm is a great lens and I have many great photos with it. I guess I get hung up on wanting higher quality glass(not that the 70-300 non l is low quality) in the longer range. It would be nice to have the 70-200 in IS and F/2.8 even, I just can't justify spending that kind of money right now(financial reasons). The 70-200MM F/4 L seems like it would be the logical step up and still be with in my budget after selling one, if not both of the other lens. Guess I'm just dreaming again. :)
