CameraMan Cream of the Crop More info | Feb 01, 2013 15:11 | #6298 I'd imagine they lasted longer than normal uncovered bridges. Remember, horse and buggies crossed over these. Not cars so they weren't built to sustain 2,000+ pound vehicles. So they were able to spend a little more to cover them. Maybe they were used as rain shelters, maybe they were just built that way to look fancy. Photographer

I love these covered bridges, have yet to come across one in Canada. So this one is foot traffic only CameraMan? I had never considered that they wouldn't support the weight of a vehicle. Pat! You really do have to come down here sometime. There are two covered bridges just on the other side of the river in Quebec. ~Julie~
