how big is the 6D's viewfinder? it's 97% coverage...but is the size of the viewfinder as big as like a 7D or 5D?

(not that it matters anymore for me since I'm married to this D600 now, but I just wanted to know). Thanks

The great thing about being married to a D600 is that unlike a real wife, she won't mind if you have a 6D as a mistress.

6D VF is large and bright and uses a pentaprism like all Canon FF bodies and xD bodies. The 97% coverage doesn't affect this. 100% would be nice though, but it hasn't been an issue for me.

The 24-70 is lighter, which is what you'd like in a walkaround lens, and from what I understand the AF is really quick

The distortion and vignetting are also pretty much gone. To me it seems like an overall better lens. Canon wouldnt just make a lens for the **** of it. They all hold a purpose for different needs.

Thanks, it was unclear to me when reading the manual.

The 6D viewfinder looks very much like my sister's 5d mk iii from what I can tell. Don't get "spec'd" out. I seriously doubt if 97% will ever make a difference in any application.

btw, I had my marriage to the D600 annulled after a week;) Have been a Nikon user for a few years and the change to Canon is traumatic but worthwhile in my case. Got a deal on a Canon tele and flash which prompted the change. The Canon 6D feels far more comfortable in the hand than the D600 and is at least as good a camera, imo. The WiFi function is turning out to be useful with my iPad for remote camera shooting. They are both good choices.

Well I had a 60d before and can tell you when I first looked through the 6d viewfinder it was like opening my eyes for the first time. What do you hope to achieve hanging around here? Are you trying to feel good about your d600? Don't they have a Nikon forum you can go and play in.

not trying to be a troll. Just looking for any possible reasons why I should switch to 6d before i take delivery of my first nikon lens

I think the most valid reason to get rid of your D600 is evident in this thread posted on DPR. If anything goes wrong with your D600 or lens, plan on possibly not having it fixed for a month or longer, and even then there is the possibility they will deny your warranty on made up crap like "impact damage". Canon has the best customer service and reliability in the industry by a magnitude of light years. :D

Although, to be fair, the incredible dynamic range of the D600 will allow you to push the shadows of the dust spots like no other!

so the viewfinder isn't as small as a rebel? I believe 6D uses a pentamirror instead of the better pentaprism (larger and brighter)...which I think even the 60D has. For sure the 7D has the pentaprism

No, it's the same size as the 5DIII and it's definitely a pentaprism. Using it in bestbuy made me never want to pick up my Rebel again. I also compared it side by side with the D600 and the 7D and to me it was the clear best of the bunch... I'm very seriously considering just putting the 6D on credit now rather than saving until May or June.... someone talk me into it! :p

Please tell why!!! :)

The viewfinder just seemed much larger and brighter to me than both, though I think the Nikon was at fault only because of the larger cluster of blinking red lights when autofocusing. There's only so much you can tell from shooting at a best buy, but my initial impressions left me feeling that the 6D was the best balanced of the 3 in terms of ergonomics, weight (I like lighter gear, I do a lot of hiking) and FV optics. To me it just feels right, it's calling my name!

I know and I have one... that's why I'm thinking of doing it now! My original plan was to save up half the cost of the camera ($1300 or so) by my birthday in May, then pay for the other half of it with my best buy credit card... but I might jump the gun early, just don't want to regret it later  My logic though is that even if I didn't pay it off in the 18 months (which is unlikely) the interest I'd pay would be about the difference of the sale price...

I am planning to order mine tonight from BnH. And if my wife starts trying to talk me into waiting to save a couple hundred bucks, I may go like "Uh, dear I don't really feel like going to work tomorrow for the overtime. ... just don't feel really motivated :) ".

FYI, online ordering through BANDH ends in 30 minutes. Adorama might still be open for orders later though. The $200 discount seems to be permanent with the 6D body only, while the 24-105 kit discount ends tomorrow, along with other $200 lens discounts.

I just ordered a 6D from BANDH myself right now. Can't wait to get that shutter ripping! :D:D

Seems pretty general, I sent it right back to Adorama for an exchange. Hopefully the next one will be better. ;)
