Ok, I'll bite...for all of us wanna-be bball shooters. What are ya'll referring to with the "horizontal game" comment?

Taking pictures vertically rather the horizontal all the time. Basketball is more of an up and down game.

I see. I obviously missed the sarcasm in the comments. ;) I kinda shoot vertically...grr...finding that they are not quite vertical and need to be straightened in post.:o Must work on technique.

Boy am I loving this 135L. I'm thinking it is like an indoor mini 300 f/2.8! Well, that's what I tell myself since I've never used a 300 f/2.8.

1D-3, 1/800 f/2.2 ISO 3200.

Ok boys and girls
Finally got my 40D back from the shop
all pics 1/500 3200 iso 2.8 with my 70-200 2.8 lens
I think girls pics may have been 1/400
Camera is different back from the shop
everything was reset
I think I didnt set the focus right
Couldnt get the red dot (square) to light up
C and C as always
Ambient light
Lights cycled at 60HZ
about 2 outta 6 pics were fair
And BB focus seemed not like it used to be

I like #2,3, and 4. Looks like maybe a little too much contrast and/or clarity. #1 did you over sharpen it or crop is heavy? I'm seeing halos in the players in the background. I'm glad you got your camera back. Get to shooting!:D

I've been shooting my grandson's HS basketball for the last 2 years. Today was Senior Day, and 3 seniors were honored. Each was given a 24x16 collage of pics of him during play.

Every one of the pics were shots I had taken. Made this old man feel useful again.
