Lighting was all natural, it was supposed to be an overcast day and ended up being sunny but decided to try to do the planned shots anyways. Agree on the limbs, I should have changed the crop to not make that as obvious.

I like the last one the most. The white blanket is distracting, as is the light toned planter wall in #4.

#2 is the clear favorite for me. The lighting is definitely harsh but luckily she has features and skin that can tolerate it. It looks nice in color but I'm guessing it could also make a very, very nice B&W (it has great contrast for that).

The others are not really in the same league. Compositionally they tend to be a bit awkward and the exposure is way over on some. The angle of her face in #5 is not very flattering, but the open shade lighting is nice.

#2 makes the whole shoot worth it IMO.

here are some cropped b&w that I had done from this session, I really liked these edits and they looked gorgeous printed on metallic paper.

The lighting really kills these. What software do you use? If you use lightroom or dpp or acr, try pulling down the highlights way down and dodging up the shadows.

The second set is better with the crops, but the b/w conversion is still too hot. On the fourth one, blow out the highlights and kill the clarity around her and go whimsical or dreamy, maybe split tone it.

Next time don't have the sun in her face, put her back to the sun and use a reflector or fill flash.

I hardly ever shoot portraits in full sun. I usually always take an assistant with me, or the model usually brings along a friend, mom, whatever. Just someone to hold a scrim to diffuse the sun a little. A collapsible reflector also works well.

Went back into LR & made some adjustments.... What do you think?

I wish we would have had someone else there with us to help but it was just the two of us.
I added another photo, one that was taken in a more shady spot.

The last one with her standing in open shade is the real winner in this set. You noticed the sun and tried to make it work and kudos for the effort but it really was just too bright. Think about changing locations or at the very least turn her around and use the sun as a back or hair light.

You'll notice the ones with her in the sun her eyes look "heavy" due to the fact she's got her eyes half closed. It's really hard to keep them open in bright sun. Putting her in the shade or turning her around makes it easier to see her pretty eyes and it feels more comfortable and relaxed.

I hope you get a chance to try again. The sun is not a bad thing, you just need to make appropriate use of it if you can.

Thanks for the comments!
I will definitely get a chance again with her. (shes my sister in law)
Have a few more ideas for this location I want to try out too.

Again thanks for the feedback!

I really like #3 except her foot is cut off. Nice series.
