I bought a 5D in December. I just picked up a 28-135 for a walk-around lens. I am happy with it. Do it.

The 5Dc is a wonderful camera.

I should have been more clear in my question I guess... I'm wondering more about the performance of the 5Dc vice my current 50D.

I have those two, and there was a post a few weeks back that I completely agreed with:
https://photography-on-the.net …hp?p=15449316&postcount=2

That pretty much sums up the differences you'll find, but the two bodies go well together. The 5D will feel slower and less responsive than the 50D thanks to a longer VF blackout (the larger mirror also makes much more of a slap) and lower framerate, but it's nonetheless still a great performer.

I am in the move myself, 500D to a 5Dc. Have it on loan and love it! Much better iq than my 500d. Only have a 50 1.8mk 1 but intend on getting some good glass for it.

To me its a no brainer

I just picked up a 5Dc to be a second body/other option to my 1D. I am really pleased with the test shots so far. Every lens nailed focus perfectly, even at 1.4 in sub par conditions. It actually has me thinking of sending in the 1D for a calibration. Pick one up, try it and if you don't love it sell it for what you bought it for.

So I've come across a pretty good deal on a Canon 5D mk1. I'm wondering if it would be worth the investment. I'm currently shooting with a Canon 50D...would the 5D be worth any investment?

Absolutely. I went from 50D to 5Dii and ended up getting a 5DC later and still loved it, even already having a 5Dii to compare it too. I've been thinking about getting one again as a backup/walk around camera.

for what they go for these days you can't go wrong. Still my main shooter. Just make sure it's not too worn out.

The investment, these days, for a 5Dc in good condition is around $500. I would say that yes, a 5Dc is definitely worth $500 - in terms of both how useful it will be as an image-making tool and in terms of being able to resell it without incurring a loss.

Pretty good chance you could find one for even less - I have seen a few for only $450 - and they didn't even have too many shutter actuations.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

It's still a great body that produces terrific files. I have one and a 60D. I only use the 60D to shoot sports and video now. The files clean up amazingly well from the 5Dc, much better I find than the 60D.

I should point out that the 1DsII sells for just around 1K. Better AF (outer af points are better), 30% more pixels, more customizable. It this stuff matters to you, then the 1DsII is also a good buy.

The 5D is a fantastic investment. Considering that it is half the price of it's successor, and twenty percent of the price for that camera's successor- it is a surefire way to taste full frame if you never have before. At $500-$600 you can pick one up and try it. If you find that it isn't for you, sell it back and you'll likely lose only about $25-35. I went from Rebel XT to 5Dc. Bought the Rebel in 2007 and in Summer 2011 got the 5Dc. For landscape stuff it is amazing. As I am a an enthusiast and not a professional, I will likely ride this thing until its death and then move up the Canon food chain.
