I've been experimenting with this style as well and love the look. I'm curious if there are any aperture users out there? I did these shots all with Curves, the split toning wheels and vignette and contrast/saturation. Definitely a lot to learn. (The aspect ratios are obviously not right)

Thank you! Really appreciate it!

Here's another one from me, love the emotion and mood you can create with the "Cinematic" processing.

I definitely need more practice with this. Any tips? Although this thread is incredible, a lot of the actual tips and how to's get lost.

I am not very good at this style...but I think this style REALLY needs the right subject...not just anything works well for this processing style. I think that shows in some of the examples posted that really have that "feel" and seem to work better than others...subject is really key.

agreed. i think the best ones are the ones that sort of look like this already straight out of the camera

These 2. Doesnt get any better.

Late reply -- pounded by work . Thanks dude. The black & white rendition of mine smokes all my other photos by a mile in terms of traffic on Flickr. I think someone posted it to a blog or something.

Tried my hand at this style. Some of my first attemps with some older pictures.

agreed, if you have to add a lot of blur in post, it doesn't have the same look as it would if shot with a fast prime. I am going to keep working on it...I don't get out to shoot as much as I would like...but I love a good new challenge.
