Anything i bought after having the 18-55 lens kit for over 6 months:

EF 70-200 F4/L = build quality, IQ, AF speed.
EF 17-40 F4/L = build quality, front element size.
EF 50 F1.8 MKll = value/performance ratio :D

EOS 6D * 17-40 F/4L * 70-200 F/4L * 50mm F/1.8II * Vintage Mirage 70-210 Macro

70-200 L 2.8 IS II

Bought it Saturday just gone...

Opened the box in the shop (London Camera Exchange, Worcester, UK), held it up to the light and spotted dust. The staff spent 15 minutes cleaning it until I was satisfied (I was spending a lot of money on a new lens - it did not yet meet my expectaions).

Hooked the lens onto my 7D and went out into to street to fire off a few shots - WOW, where do I pay.

I used it that afternoon at a motor sport event and it exceeded my expectations :D

canon 50mm 1.8 FD

(for EF lenses, I'd say Tamron 28-75 2.8 was my first one that made me go wow (at the time I had an old 35-70mm 3.4-4.5 or something like that and the 18-55 non-IS kit))

1) Canon 300/4 IS
2) Sigma 35/1.4 ART
3) Sigma 70-200/2.8 OS
4) Canon 400/5.6

They are in chronological order of acquisition, so those were four WOWs!!! :)

Went from the kit lens to a 50 1.4 and shot it wide open. It was then that I started to think that photography was a special thing.

just a few of my thoughts...
