Before I begin, let me go over a quick synopsis of the camera setups that I've had over the years:

Digital Rebel XTi
40D
40D + 20D (bought/sold a few 20Ds)
T1i + 40D (had the T1i for a day before realizing it wasn't for me lol)
T2i + 40D
T2i + 50D
T2i + 50D + 5Dc (sold all three)
5D2 + 7D
5D3 (current)

So I've been used to having 2 cameras for a bit. With the 50D, I enjoyed the Magic Lantern firmware allowing me to shoot video on it. After getting the 5Dc, I got hit with the full frame bug and haven't looked back. So now I'm looking to get a second camera, but I am budget limited.

I'm not sure if I should get:

7D (I shoot sports and could use the extra reach and FPS)
5D2 (close in IQ to 5D3 and is FF)
6D (closer in IQ to 5D3)
5Dc (still full frame, don't necessarily need another video body, much cheaper)

Or get a xxD series cam. I'd probably go for a 50D. I don't like the 60D ergonomics.

I mostly shoot nightlife, events, portraits, and sports.

7D or 2nd 5D3, so of one goes down mod game you can still keep up with sports shooting.

My recommendation would be to get the newest FF body you can easily afford. So perhaps a 5DII if the price is right.

So, you had a 7D, but got rid of it? Now you need a 2nd body, and you're considering . . . a 7D.
May I ask: why, then, did you get rid of the one you had?
If at that time you realized that it didn't meet your photographic needs, then it probably wouldn't be any more useful now than it was then.
Just something to consider.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I was happy with the 5D2 + 7D combo and had that for a while. I put up both for sale to fund the repair of my car's transmission. The 7D sold first. At the time of selling it, I found a deal that I couldn't pass up on a 5D3, so I sold the 5D2 at a decent price and was able to fund it.

I loved the 7D, despite people's opinion that its ISO performance left a bit to be desired. With the newer V2 firmware, it was that much better. I didn't care so much for what people thought of it, it worked for me.
