I bought Perfect Effects 4 a short while ago and I'm impressed by the sheer number of filters available as well as the ease in which I can create my own filters using the Effects Stack and Effect Options.

Recently I've been thinking about getting Color Efex Pro 4. The full price for Perfect Effects 4 which has over 300 pre-built filters is $99.95 whereas Color Efex Pro which only has 55 pre-built filters is $199.95 - twice the price of PE4.

I'm not that bothered about how many pre-built filters CEP4 has as long as it is easy to build my own. But I'd like to ask people who have both or who have tried both: is Color Efex Pro really worth the extra $100? Is it that much better than Perfect Effects?

The only person that can tell you what it's worth is you.
I'd download a trial and experiment with it.
See what effects you get and how it works.

For anyone who is interested: you can download a free version of Perfect Effects 4 with around 70 presets.
