The first "wow" was definetly 18-55 kit lens several years ago, when i've switched to dslr after shooting with cheap compact cameras :-)

Next big "wow" was TS-E24L and 50L after few years :-)

Since the OP question is what is the first lens to make you say wow>> well it was the 50 1.8 for me and I'll never part with it either. ;)

I'm surprised that so few people have put wide angle lenses down. For me it was the Canon 10-22. The first time I zoomed out to 10mm and realized I could nearly see behind me definitely woke me up.

My first wow was my first 200 2.8L II that I actually bought off fleaBay. Perfect lens, amazing. I was kicking myself for selling it, so I bought a brand new copy in December. But it doesn't have the wow of the first copy. May be going to Canon shortly.

I was wowed today even more when I got my 28-70L back from repair. Bought it in August, but it has never worked right. Wow, I finally know what everyone was talking about with that lens, it is amazing!

+1

I had only chance to borrow This lens once, but What a Magical lens. King of pleasing bokeh and clarity and sharpness at wide open <3. Blows your socks away.

Now if I only had the extra €€€ to get one of my own....
