Sell 5D2, 7D and 85 1.2 for a 1DX?

Really considering this option. Havent touched these two since getting the 5D3 and never use the 85 1.2 II so why not??

Why not. I just sold a 1D IV and my 85L II to raise the cash for a 2nd 1D X. Of course, it made sense to do so for what I shoot (sports). It may or may not make sense to do so for what you shoot.

I shoot all your normal portraits with high school sports also. And my kids and golden retrievers.

Looking through your Flickr site, I don't see why your 5d3 can't handle everything you shoot. I'd sell your extra cameras and either purchase a lens you could use or maybe some further courses on more in-depth photography. Buying the 1dx won't improve your photos.

Well, no point hanging onto gear you don't use so better to move them on and get something you will use and like

Looking at your gear, I'd reconsider the 1Dx. Sell the 5D mk2 and add the 70-200 f2.8 IS II.
The 70-200 mk2 is a killer lens. I use mine for my kids sports and portrait work and just about everything as its about as sharp as a lens can get and has IS. Then sell your 24-105 and 85 and get the 400 f5.6 which would yield killer long shots for sports. On your 7D it would be a great supertele on a budget.

Having owned a 7D and currently using the 5D mk3 and 1Dx, the advantages of the 1 series in your shooting may not mean that much. The faster burst speed is nice but the 7D is almost there. The resolution, low light capabilities and IQ of the 5D mk3 pretty closely matches the 1Dx. AF system is the same on the 1Dx and 5D mk3 though the 1Dx hardware does make it function a bit better. Dual CF cards are nice in the 1Dx. The battery system is completely different. You can't share batteries between the 1 and 5/7 series. The 1Dx is a LOT heavier.
Just my 2 cents and believe me, I'm a gear nut so it feels weird to not say "Go for it!" But unless you are making money with it, I think its like buying a formula one car as your daily driver.

The other lens I'd seriously consider changing out is your 24-70 mk1 for the mk2. It's expensive but you won't believe the IQ. At times I really think its too sharp! And the color rendering is much nicer than the v1.

Quick math in my head tells me you'd be spending about $1500 less than the 1Dx in your scenario and have 3 killer lenses.
