With all these to choose from I am wondering if one may be better than the other. I am a total newb to SLR. I went from a point and shoot nikon coolpix to a 60D. Quite a Jump eh? Well anyways here is a list of books on the 60D on amazon. Anyone got advice and what one(s) I should order?

http://www.amazon.com …field-keywords=canon+60D+ (external link)

BTW what a great forum this is, I have only been here for 2 days and have learned so much its unreal! And I'm realizing there is SOOOOOOOO much more I need to learn.

As far as setup goes I got the 60D pro kit. 18-55mm & 55-250mm and a ton of other stuff! If that helps.

Anyways its nice to meet everyone, I look forward to reading your knowledge and learning from you all. Thanks in advance for any help.

I always buy and thoroughly read a guidebook or two whenever I get a new camera model, to supplement the manual that Canon provides. I'm sure many of them are good, but can personally recommend those by Michael Guncheon, Charlotte Lowrie and David Busch.

I'd also highly recommend anyone new to SLRs get a copy of "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson (external link)and read it from cover to cover one or more times. That might be the best $17 you ever spend on your photography!

Have never even held an SLR before. If there is any more advice keep it coming! I dont mind ordering 4-5 books at all. I want to learn as much as I can.

Stick to the camera manual. If you need photo books then go to Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson, Learning To See Creatively also by Bryan Peterson.

For design and composition look at The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman too.
