Well, thing is my Helios 44-2 did in fact hit the mirror at infinity, until I filed a bit of metal off from the rear.
It depends on a variety of factors, including the adapter, the specific lens itself (not the model, but the specific specimen, theres a fair bit of variation when it comes to russian-made things) and possibly the 5D body, how within tolerances it actually is (though the tolerances are very small on it, so the difference that makes is marginal - but it is a factor that slightly affects the other two anyway, even if the effects are miniscule).


A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.
Never limit yourself with what others think you should do. Shoot what you find interesting, exactly the way you want to.
