If anyone in the area hasn't been out to Lock and Dam 14 yet to shoot some eagles, it's lots of fun. It's straight down I88, takes me 2 hours from Aurora.

This weekend Fermilab had a Family Open House. Hands on stuff for the kids. Loads of fun. Signed up to volunteer on the grounds etc.

I took those with my little Sony TX66. I love that little thing. Crazy good pictures in my pocket.

I was at the show last night. I'd recommend going late. I've got a few photos in my Flickr. Was not a very interesting show minus the new Vette and Viper IMO.

Where did you see some? They will probably be lingering around until March.

Yes - I have seen golden eagles there a few times. Not in the last week, though.

I live just a couple blocks from the library, so I see the area a lot.

If they're baldies, they've been rolling in mud. There was a pair this morning that look like adults, but no white on them at all.

When I lived downstate I used to see goldens, but that was many years ago. They look the same to me. I know there have been bald eagle sightings on the Fox, but I haven't seen any this year.

You are probably seeing juvenile bald eagles. They do not have a white head until a few years into their life.

For example this is a juvi (taken at L&D 14) and probably an older one given its head is turning to white.

Golden eagles don't generally live in this area. See the range map from Nat Geo
