Is the MP-E 65mm too much of a specialty lens for most?

Believe it or not, that adds to the marketability of a used item.

To add to that, a buyer can be better assured the shipping of the item will be all the more safe and secure with the original Canon packaging, which contains ample fitted foam, when the item is complete. Otherwise, the buyer is relying complelely on an amateur seller to safeguard the lens. That's a recipe for disappointment.

I think the problem is that it is probably the most niche lens out there.

I would like one, but my only offer would be a insultingly low one, as there are alot of other lenses and equipment that would get used more that I want. Probably other folks feel the same.

When I shop I don't worry about the pictures as much as the descriptions. If someone takes the time to detail every last mark or whatever you know that is the kind of person who takes care of their stuff, and will likely package it well. When you see "xx lens for sale, good shape email for pics" its time to run.

Having the box also helps to assure that it isn't a stolen item as most people aren't carrying around their boxes when they are likely to get their gear stolen.

I looked at your ad when it came out (I'm planning to buy one sometime soon, but I'm in no rush) and passed for the reasons mentioned above. And I'm not "that guy" that would just make a lowball offer.

Also, especially for a macro, I'd want to see the front element - and a couple shots taken with the lens would be nice too.

BTW: I lived in EDH when EDH Blvd was 2 lane and had horses near the archery range. Sure was different a couple years ago when I was back!

first off, it's not an amazing price...i mean $800 is on the high side, if you're watching what they go for on ebay...

it's a lens one day that i'd like to own...but i'm planning on just watching ebay, looking for deals...I don't plan on paying more than $700 for one though...

I think it is a great price because of the condition. I did look at prices of others, and I also am open to offers as well. My price is no where near firm and I was pretty sure I was clear in stating that. That's kind of why I was surprised I only received 2 PM's. Either way, now that I know how much of a small market it has, I have a better understanding of why such a low interest.

You might try listing it on FredMiranda.com too. When I've listed items for sale on this forum and on FM, they seem to sell faster on FM. There is a fee to sell on FM and it depends on how long you want to be able to sell - 30 days to 2 years.

Canon 7D, 5D, 35L, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.8, 135L, 200L, 10-22, 17-55, 70-300, 100-400L, 500D, 580EX(2).
Sigma 150 macro, 1.4X, 2X, Quantaray 2X, Kenko closeup tubes, Yongnuo YN685(3), Yongnuo YN-622C-TX. Lots of studio stuff.

Good point, packing is such a skilled task one must rely on the OEM.

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.
