workflow with SSD + HDD combo

hey all

so i finally bit the bullet and upgraded my macbook with an SSD, moving the original HD into the optical bay.

this is common, so to those POTNers that have done it, what is your workflow? do you import the CR2 files to the SSD, p/p them, and move the finished raw + output onto the storage drive?

I use Lightroom and just keep all my RAW files on the mechanical drive. My programs, catalog and cache are on the SSD. I think to get the best answer though you need to let us know what software you're using.

Yeah I put the LR Catalog on my SSD and the files on the HD.

Fusion drive for me, 240 SSD and 1 TB hd.

Interesting, i hadnt cnsidered that... But arent you losing out on the asvantages of having an ssd by not having the working cr2 files on the ssd as well, since you are still writing xmp files to the hd and not ssd?

My lightroom path is currently HD>users>user>pictures>lightroom. So did you guys just move that folder to the ssd and repoint it in lightroom?

I'm thinking of this update in the future. What I was considering is old catalogs on the HDD, and a catalog with new photos only (6-12 months-ish) on the SSD. Speed and performance advantage of the SSD for the new stuff that I'm most likely to be working on, and the HDD for storage.

No, the SSD and HD are initialized as a single volume fusion drive.
