Sirrith, to be clear, I am not saying Canon doesn't make a "cream of the crop" camera, which is the 1D series. However, an astoundingly nice, top of the line camera has nothing to do with "pro". That is a marketing gimmick. A smart gimmick, but a gimmick.
I know this is a silly argument, but only if you know the tools.
I originally wrote my post above because of the amount of people I have talked to who are wealthy hobbyists or enthusiasts who pay out nearly $7,000 on something that they never should need, because it was "pro".
Understand, I am not saying you are one of them. For all I know, you are a award winning AP photojournalist in a trench right now in Syria posting of forums because the wheelbarrow you carry your giant balls around in has gone flat.
However, if you are that, then I utterly agree-$7,000 well spent! But if you aren't in unimaginable conditions, you probably could have spent half the price and gotten a better lens too.
Point is, I keep hearing "I need a 1Dx because it is the pro's camera! It's built like a tank! And yes, it is. But, just like a tank- unless your job takes you to a warzone or somewhere equally brutal, I doubt you needed one. The 5D Mark III will cover 99% of photographer's needs, pro and not.
